Micromax is set to launch its first high-end Android smartphone – A85 Superfone, around Diwali. There are plans to launch this high end phone in the third week of October and it will be priced around Rs 19,000. It will be powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
A85 will feature a gesture control-based user interface. Gesture control supported user interface will be used to navigate and scroll through the user interface. The front facing VGA camera is used to capture the gestures of the user. The only other gesture control I have experienced is probably a Symbian Music App called ‘Moove’ which allows users to change tracks using hand gestures. You make gestures similar to turning a page and the front camera captures it and Moove changes track. Innovative technology. It will be interesting to see the extent to which Micromax integrates gesture control in its Superfone.
Micromax A85 Superfone will feature a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus to capture high quality images and hopefully 720p HD video. It also has a 4 inch capacitive screen with an impressive resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. As far as processing power is concerned, the A85 will have a dual-core Nvidia Tegra T20 processor coupled with 512 MB RAM.
SuperPhone A85 will come with 8 GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB. It promises a healthly battery life and features a battery capacity of 1650 mAh .Micromax had earlier released A60 and A70 mobile phones running Android 2.2 Froyo in India. The company is trying to establish itself into the Android Phone market.
