EVOLTA Powered Robot That Can Swim, Run And Bike

To compete in the Triathlon in Hawai next month, Panasonic created a miniature robot capable of swimming, running and biking. This miniature robot which is only one tenth of the size of human was expected to finish this triathlon in 170hrs, that a normal human will finish in 17 hrs. To complete the Triathlon, this miniature robot got to do 2.36miles(3.8Km) swimming, 111.8miles (180 Km) of bike riding and finally a 26.2 mile (42.195km) running.
Robots That Can Swim, Run and Bike
This miniature robot is powered by EVOLTA batteries and was designed by Mr. Tomotaka Takahashi, CEO of ROBOGARAGE.Co.,Ltd. This robot which proved itself on ground, now having a bigger challenge of swimming. A higer concern was taken on designing the robot to swim without any trouble and they finally did it. The shape of the robot was designed to give it buoyancy in water and the robot’s paddling arm acts as the mere propulsion system. Now, the robot can swim in the ocean, or large choppy, fast and wind blowing tides.
The power management will always be a trouble maker in robots, particularly in miniature robots. To overcome this, a new generation EVOLTA batteries designed to have a lossless performance in between charging and discharging were used. These new generation EVOLTA batteries hitting the market has a flashy feature, which would let the buyers to charge the battery 1,800 times without any loss in performance.
